Edema

Edema from Congestive Heart Failure (CHF) occurs when one or both of your heart's lower chambers lose their ability to pump blood effectively. This can result in swelling of feet and legs. Edema can also be caused by Venous Insufficiency (VI). This high pressure in leg veins and causes fluid to leak out and build up in legs due to the effects of gravity. Untreated, venous insufficiency causes high pressure in veins that can worsen over time.
