Collection: Lipedema

Lipedema is a condition that causes excess fat to accumulate in the lower part of the body. Lipedema most often involves the buttocks, thighs, and calves but upper arms can also be affected. It is more common in women and usually affects both sides of the body equally. The affected skin feels soft and cool and maybe dimpled with an "orange peel" texture. You may also have pain, tenderness, or heaviness in the affected limbs, and you may bruise easily. Lipedema can also cause knock knees, flat feet, and joint problems, which can make walking difficult. People with lipedema should look for shoes that can accommodate foot and ankle swelling and offer expansion in the ankle, midfoot, and toe box areas.
